About Escambia County Jail

The Escambia County Correctional Facility opened in Spring 2021, with an 840-bed capacity and correctional facility support functions.

  • Each housing unit has a day area, recreational yard, triage room and multi-purpose room that can be utilized for classes and religious services.
  • Juveniles are housed in a separate wing from adult inmates and are provided separate services so that juveniles are out of normal sight and sound of adult inmates.
  • The facility has various styles of housing to accommodate various classifications of inmates.

Escambia County also has a Work Annex and Work Release location for inmates who are carrying out their sentence via supervised work in the community. The Work Annex is the only county-operated work camp in Florida, and it provides a large part of the manual labor work force for the Public Works Department.

Bonding someone out of the Escambia County Correctional Facility

The method (cash/surety) and amount of money needed for bonding someone out of the Escambia County Correctional Facility depends on their charges.

You must bring the full amount of a cash bond to the public reception area of the jail, and it must be paid by cash, certified or cashier’s check, or United States Postal Money Order made payable to the Office of the Sheriff. To initiate a surety bond, you must contact a bail bond agency.

When you pay a cash bond, it is refunded to you when all court appearances have been made and the case is discharged. When you use a Bail Bondsman for a surety bond, you will not get a refund.

Corrections Officers

The Department is currently hiring individuals for Certified Corrections Officer positions who are already certified in the State of Florida. For those who are not yet certified, the Department will pay the tuition for the Corrections Academy as well as salary and benefits during the academy.

Correctional Officers at the Escambia County Correctional Facility oversee and monitor the activities of the inmates and provide emergency response as needed, while maintaining a safe and orderly environment. Base pay for this position is $21.78 / Hour.

Detention Assistant

This position does not require any certifications. New Detention Assistants receive on the job training and carry out various job tasks. They also have opportunities to work in different areas – control rooms, booking, security, and clerical positions.

Phone calls

Inmates can call to any person outside who are on the approved members list between 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The cost of the call is beared by the receiver and the call can be of maximum 30 minutes. During rush hours, the calling time is reduced drastically to 10 minutes.
